In the second semester we will pick up with the Weimar Republic in the late 1920’s. The effects of the First World War will be examined in the politics and economics of the time. We will also discuss the War’s effects on architecture, music, painting, and literature. The Great Depression and the economic collapse of Germany will be analyzed. Paul von Hindenburg’s election as President instead of Adolf Hitler will be examined. The Nazi Party’s evolution as a national party will be discussed. Hitler’s appointment as Chancellor will conclude our coverage of the Weimar Republic.
