"A simple idea that began 45 years ago to provide a venue for continued intellectual challenge, spiritual reflection and social stimulation, has grown to be a home for thousands of third-agers in our community," said Eve Finnessy, Executive Director, in accepting the award. "Forever Learning clearly demonstrates that the love of learning lasts a lifetime."
Founded in 1974 by Fr. Louis J. Putz, C.S.C., Forever Learning is currently thriving. As more and more retirees step away from full-time employment, Forever Learning has experienced a 20 percent growth rate each of the last four semesters, an unprecedented achievement in the history of the organization.
Fr. Putz was personally inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1993 for his contribution to the community through his work both with seniors and Catholic laity.
Receiving the award on behalf of Forever Learning Institute were Eve Finnessy and Paul Stevenson, President of the Board of Directors.
"Thank you so much for recognizing this important institution," Finnessy said. "We love to sing the praises of a sch
ool we are so proud to be associated with."
