As humans age, the way we interact with the world changes, thereby influencing how we perceive it and understand it. One of the hallmarks of age-related change occurs in the memory system, most commonly understood to be patterns of decline. However, this deficit model of thinking represents only one particular theory of how memory changes with age.
In this talk Joseph Saito from the University of Notre Dame will discuss the relationships between attention, short-term, and long-term memory, and how the majority of thought around age-related change in memory is not necessarily the most accurate.
