Leighton Schmitt

Leighton is a small business owner, teacher, and lifelong resident of Mishawaka. He started Schmitt Insurance in 2020 after 10 years in the industry and, with a team of 4, serves over 1000 families in Michiana. He specializes in Medicare, Long-Term Care planning, and Annuities. Twice he has been recognized as a top agent in the South Bend Tribune Readers Choice Awards, as well as receiving various industry recognition. As a speaker, he gives 20 talks a year on senior insurance topics and concerns. 

Leighton received a B.S. in Physics with a math minor from IUSB. During his 3 years in the program he worked as a teaching assistant and tutor. Continuing a passion for teaching, he began volunteering with Forever Learning in 2017, and teaches courses on Long Term Care Planning, Medicare, and the History of Studebaker. Beginning in 2020, Leighton is proud to serve as a member of the board for FLI.
