Monika Wayne was born in Switzerland and raised in a picturesque medieval town on the river Rhine. For her higher education she moved to the international, French-speaking town of Geneva and finished a master’s degree in written translation for German, French and Italian. There, she met her American husband who took a faculty position at Notre Dame in 1991.
After recieving her master’s degree and teaching German at The University of Notre Dame, Monika became a stay-at home mom, then a Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation substitute teacher. Later, she directed adult programming for the Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley where she became acquainted with Forever Learning. Monika now serves on the FLI board and teaches French and German. She is a dedicated volunteer and very excited to be part of the amazing FLI community and its ambitious project to help serve the senior citizens in our area.
